What sets Legacy Icons apart from other icon reproductions?

Legacy Icons exists to preserve and promote the integrity, truth, and history of the Christian faith through its iconography. To accomplish this goal, we offer perhaps the finest icon reproductions in the world. We do our utmost to hold the rights to each icon we reproduce by either commissioning it exclusively for us, or by performing a balanced restoration of ancient icons under public domain to preserve their beauty for generations to come.

For over 20 years, our team has painstakingly developed an exclusive system for fine art reproductions using premium acid-free papers, lightfast-guaranteed inks, and protective sealants. Using this combination, we can offer unprecedented precision in balancing tones and color saturations.

How are your icons made?

Our icons are hand-crafted to order, one at a time. We make the boards in our in-house wood shop, and we print our museum-quality icon reproductions in our in-house print studio.

Do you offer unmounted icon prints?

Not currently.

Do you offer gift wrap?

Due to the large and heavy nature of these icons, gift wrap is not available.

How do I clean my icons?

Our museum-quality icons are not laminated or coated with plastic, so they must be treated with the same care as hand-painted icons. Avoid getting lipstick, lamp grease, wax, or other non-soluble substances on the icons.

Use a dry microfiber cloth to wipe dust off your icons. If necessary you can use a few drips of water (ideally holy water), but do not rub or scrub vigorously, or you may damage the print. Do not use any chemicals on icons, including window cleaners or disinfectant sprays.

Will my icons fade in direct sunlight?

We have a lifetime guarantee against fading. If your icon ever fades due to sunlight, we will replace it. (This guarantee does not apply to damage caused by water or cleaning.)

Under normal display conditions, you can expect your icon to resist fading for at least 150-200 years.

Can you have my icons blessed?

It against the canons of the Orthodox Church to sell blessed items (this is considered simony), so we cannot do this. Please contact your local parish priest with questions about blessing icons.

If an icon is damaged, what should be done with it?

Icons, and other holy items, that become unusable should be respectfully burned and the ashes buried in a place where they will not be walked on. (If you are not comfortable doing this, contact your local Orthodox parish priest.)

Questions About Orders

When will my order ship?

All our icons are hand-crafted to order. Full Size Replicas may require up to 6-8 weeks for production, while Three Quarters and Half Size Replicas ship in about 1-2 weeks.

Can I check my order status?

Login to your account from the menu at the top of the website and click Orders. You will also be notified by email whenever your order status changes.

Where can I ship my order?

We can ship to virtually any destination worldwide.

What payment methods do you accept?

Major US credit/debit cards and Paypal.

How do I cancel or change my order?

Do you offer gift certificates?

We do not offer physical gift certificates, but you can order digital gift certificates that are delivered by email. Click here to learn more.

Please note: Purchases of Gift Certificates do not count towards Legacy Icons' donations to Friends of Mount Sinai Monastery. However, when Gift Certificates are redeemed to purchase an icon, a portion of that sale will be donated to Friends of Mount Sinai Monastery.

Do you offer wholesale or church discounts?

Discounts are not available on the Mount Sinai Collection. Tax-exempt organizations are able to order tax-free on an individual basis. Click here to contact us prior to ordering.

Does my Legacy Icons VIP discount apply?

Discounts are not available on the Mount Sinai Collection.

Can I pay by check?

Customers with approved Legacy Icons Wholesale accounts can pay by check. These orders will be processed manually, not through the normal website checkout process. Click here to contact us prior to ordering.

Are Mount Sinai Collection orders tax-deductible?

Customer purchases on this site are not tax-deductible. If you wish to give a tax-deductible donation, it should be given directly to Friends of Mount Sinai Monastery. However, Legacy Icons passes 40% of every order to Friends of Mount Sinai Monastery, a US-based 501(c)(3) charity that works for the benefit of Saint Catherine's Monastery.

Why was my payment marked as suspicious?

Our payment processor does this automatically, and we do not have direct control over this. Suspicious orders are based on factors such as your IP address, the shipping address, the billing address, and information associated with the payment method. If something does not seem quite right, it may be marked as suspicious. This is to combat credit card fraud.

If a payment is marked as suspicious, we may follow up with you to make sure your card wasn't stolen. If everything seems OK, we will continue processing your order.

We are sorry for this inconvenience. But dealing with a stolen credit card is much more inconvenient, so we hope you appreciate our vigilance.
